Personal Information Collection and Use:
When you leave a comment on our website, we collect the information you provide in the comment form, including your IP address and browser user agent string, to help us prevent spam. If you have a Grava tar account, an anonymized string created from your email address (called a hash) may also be provided to the Grava tar service to check if you are using it. Your profile picture may be visible to the public alongside your comment after it’s approved.
If you upload images to our website, please avoid using images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) as visitors can download and extract this data.
When you leave a comment, you can choose to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for your convenience so that you don’t have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
When you log in to our website, we set a temporary cookie to check if your browser accepts cookies, which doesn’t contain any personal information and is discarded when you close your browser. We also use cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, while screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. Logging out of your account will remove the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, we will save an additional cookie in your browser that only includes the post ID of the article you just edited. This cookie expires after one day and doesn’t contain any personal information.
Embedded Content:
Our website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.) from other websites. This content behaves the same way as if you were visiting the other website. These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Data Retention:
We retain comments and their metadata indefinitely so that we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue. If you register on our website, we also store your personal information in your user profile. You can view, edit, or delete your personal information at any time, except for your username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
You’re Rights:
If you have an account on our site or have left comments, you can request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. However, we may need to keep some data for administrative, legal, or security purposes, which we won’t erase.
